Automatic satellite system

To pick up English TV in southern France you will need an 85cm dish. I think I'm right in saying that domes only pick up equal to a 65cm dish. 

We had a fully automatic, Auto skew 85cm Oyster dish on our MH it worked all along Southern  France ( you have to avoid trees) It wasn't cheap but it was worth it if you don't want the hassle of having to set one up every time you move.

We are different in that we don't do continental travel (before any of you start by saying you don't know what you are missing) we love to stay in the UK done abroad thing and rather do staycation. So we are going for the maxview cube it's mainly for the UK but l believe can pick up in Northern France a lot cheaper than the dish type, some tell me the dish type can be susceptible to windy conditions

From a convenience point of view having a roof mounted automatic system is hard to beat. You just press a button once the TV or box is tuned. It does of course depend on the motorhome being in a position to have a direct line of sight of the satellite. We had one fitted to our previous van and the cost was about £1800 for an 85 cms dish which allowed us to get a good signal down to Carcassonne in the South of France. Thus far we have not yet fitted one to our new motorhome as we are uncertain about future European touring and we are finding the built in Vision Plus aerial works well in most instances. The sort Heethers is thinking of seems quite clever but I would worry about the security of it. I suppose you would have to take it in at night and when you go out for the day?

If the OP wants an auto system that is not fixed to his vehicle he should look at VuQube. Not cheap but I am assured they work.

I have ordered a VuQube 2. Now then, how to watch Sky?

David the Maxview cube can be fitted to the roof which is the one l am having fitted a week on Friday, if you go on Maxview web site you will see it, the other is the Roadpro mini dome but that only does uk an only parts of Northern Ireland, hence why l am going for the Maxview cube

Heethers I reading about the Road Pro mini dome the other day.  It is only designed to connect to Astra 2 which would suit us. Still not convinced we need a satellite dish as the aerial seems to work quite well.

I have not yet got the Sky gubbins but I am very impressed with the VuQube 2. Light and unobtrusive on the roof and is very easy to use.
