Alde 1KW heater element

The 1KW setting on my Alde boiler has stopped working. On checking it out, I found that the 1KW element had failed. Have searched the internet for a replacement part but been unable to find one. Contacted Alde direct and asked for advice on finding a supplier. This is the reply I have received

The electrical elements have never been available for the 3010, 3020 or 3030-series boilers as they're integrated into the chassis.

Boilers can be rebuilt with new chassis though, sir. Details below.

I am not that impressed, considering that I’ve found a Alde repair manual on online that describes how to replace the element.

The estimate for a rebuild boiler is £1185.

The boiler is 3020 and is in a 2015 caravan.

Having checked the cost of a new boiler compared to the estimated price of a Alde repairs, a new boiler would possibly be of better value.

I’ve decided to just run the system on the 2kw setting and wait until that fails. At that stage, I’ll either strip the boiler and see if i can find replacement generic elements, or invest in a new boiler.

"I’ve decided to just run the system on the 2kw setting and wait until that fails."

Statistically the chances of that occurring could be a very long time?

Alde UK might be willing to help you by giving you some basic "mean time between failure" data, particularly here in the light of your 1kW element's failure?

As the company chose to design this as a non-routine replaceable component, I have the feeling your type of failure has to be very rare.

That suspicion, is largely based on them marketing this as a premium product, where any real population of premature failures, with no reasonably costed repair option would be particularly damaging to the reputation, of that product placement.

Hope now the unit functions without further failure.
