Further to my previous thread about my faulty smoke alarm.

https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/information-technical-tips-advice/parts-accessories/smoke-detector/

I have just received the replacement alarm and was surprised to see that it has an internal 10 year battery. The alarm is only active when fitted (correctly) to the backplate. There is a small magnet that is activating this.

The new alarms now come with a ten years warranty - although in my case I only get the remains of the previous 5 year warranty.

My carbon monoxide alarm has a warranty like that but the new caravan smoke alarm doesn't but at least that has a reset button for when I am cooking so I am not tempted to take the battery out!  Too many people do that to the cheaper alarms!

Pippah. Can you please point me in the right direction re a smoke alarm that is not too sensitive? I suspect that ours is the cheaper version that you have mentioned.

JD - I can only find FIREX in the owners manual says "Smoke Alarm with Hush Feature"  The Hush feature being what you are looking for I think - the AirAngel had one but it didn't stay hushed for long!

It came from a Caravan Accessory shop on the Devon/Dorset border somewhere.  Maybe Lyme Regis?   It is less sensitive than the Fire Angel I had before that died on me but it does go off with cooking but the Hush button seems to stop that for quite a while.  Somewhere around £10 - I think but more than the Angel variety and worth it IMO.
