Water taps: micro switch or not ?

Question has arisen as one of the taps needs replacing.

The taps have microswitch connections. The installed pump (which I fitted but which I'm sure was a straight like for like) I'm pretty sure has integrated pressure sensor. Nonetheless, on testing the microswitches are definitely 'in the loop' (they haven't been disconnected somewhere).

My question: is it the norm to have them microswitched rather than simply rely on an integrated sensor at the pump even though the fitted pump has the sensor ?
