TOMTOM Go Exclusive problems

Has anyone else had a problem with the TomTom Go Exclusive? I purchased mine in July last year and I entered my daughters post code that it says is accessible by car but, not it seems by motorhome which, when the details are entered, it just comes up with ‘no route possible’ with zero explanation as to why, TomTom have been trying to sort this out since July, including what is now my third device, all to no avail.

Now here’s the important bit, they’ve now emailed me to say that Go Exclusive is not meant for motorhomes, just for cars, campers and caravans!

All you have to do is to look at their advertising and it specifically says Motorhomes, and even says ANY vehicle, and yet they are refusing to do anything about the problem that I have, in so much as I can’t trust a device that tells me ‘no route possible’ when I’ve actually been there in my motorhome without any problem. How many other routes is it incapable of finding? If you have one, do you trust yours? You shouldn't!

Please let me have your thoughts, in case you want to try your device the post code it can't get to is GU14 0BP.

Good luck,

Malcolm

No offence meant, but are you 100% certain that you have input the MH parameters (length, width, height, and weight) correctly?

I assume you have correctly set up your vehicle dimensions in your GO and I can only think your TT is encountering a road restriction for your vehicle. As you have driven the route are you aware of any restrictions which may effect the routing?

I have a truck sat nav, not TT. I have little faith in sat nav types other than for trucks because of the size of my motorhome. Sometimes it will not navigate in areas where trucks are not allowed which can be a nuisance at times because I am not a genuine truck, (is this your problem?) but it does avoid obstcales for my size and weight and it will warn me that I am breaking road restrictions if the road/route is the only one possible (usually the last couple of miles to a destination). Sat navs are not infalible, the data it is operating on could be wrong, common sense is a virtue.

Yes I am 100% certain I have in put the correct details, on all 3 different GO devices they have sent me! It's only a small motorhome l=6m x h=3m x w=2.5m, I know the dimension off by heart now having repeated them to TT so often. My previous satnav never had a problem but was at the end of it's up-grade life so I (supposedly) got a better one. top of the TT range.

There's an advisory width restriction on one of the routes in (there are 2 different routes to the address) which magically disappears if I do the route in reverse but, I only know this because of having been there. If TT told/warned me of what and where I could cope with it, but it doesn't. How do you tell where on the route the problem is? Or just only go where it will let me? Sorry daughter, my satnav says I can't visit you and the grandchildren (?). I just had to gamble the first time, not what a motorhome sanav is for, so I see your point about trucks peedee. And yes, I agree, it's the data that's wrong, not the satnav per-see.

Cheers, Malcolm

Looking at the TT web site there is also a GO Camper. Perhaps that would have been a better buy?

Have you got a tablet? You could try their App free for a month to compare with your GO.

Good comeback, thank you.

I bought the GO exclusive as it is one up from the Camper and, as it says on their website, covers all/any vehicles, next to the picture of a motorhome!

The tablet App. only does cars I'm afraid peedee, and the GO will get there in a car.

Cheers

According to the download store you can set the vehicle type to truck and set weight and dimensions.

I have a truck sat nav for when towing the caravan when we go on the M4 with the intention of picking up the M25 south I always go the Bracknell Bagshot M3 junction 3 route the sat nav will not recognise junction 3 M3 as a viable route when in Truck mode but will in car mode on returning truck mode recognises the route without issues, I always check our route using Google maps and street view and never rely solely on sat nav.

Ive just used TomTom MyDrive (which links to my sat nav) to plot a route to the destination as posted.

i can set it to Light Camper (my own van dimensions) or to Heavy Camper. The route plotted is identical, no issues.

This is looking positive, thank you so much for the replies, seems I need to get further in to this peedee, I'll have a go. It appears that it is a width problem, not weight, TomTom tell me they are delving deeper in to the problem, I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks again,

Malcolm
