Soon to look at continental vans as a possible change. Does anyone know if and how that central leg dinette table can be removed. Would prefer my folding one. Chauson is one make we may consider, can any owners comment on their quality?

as i can see ours from this seat....i can see it has 6 largish bolts around the outside of a metal circular flange which is around 10"+ in diameter.

the table is solid as a rock and can move fwd and aft as well as turning through 360 deg to enable it to accommodate different seating groups.

Having come from a 'twin side sofa' lounge van, i was a bit sceptical about the 'fixed pedestal table' in our first Carthago....however, having given it a try, it makes perfect sense as we use it for meals, siting a laptop/tablet, books etc....

it takes a bit of getting used to but we wouldnt take it out now, putting up and taking down a table (as we used to) would seem such a faff as we already have one....and this one is at the correct height for meals and getting legs under which the majority of 'put up' tables arent...

if you do go for a van with one of these, have a look at how youll remove it, by all means, but i would give it a few trips before you do anything...

the table might drive you nuts, but on the other hand, you may come to recognise its virtues...

ps, we have no problem 'lounging feet up' with a table like this... we spin the cab seats (Aguti Roadliners) and feet go on the side seats, just like you would in a caravan or rear lounge MH, but with (IMHO) far more comfortable, supportive and adjustable chairs... the TV is above the fwd facing two seater

you never know, Micky, it might be to your liking.smile

Thanks BB, sometimes, as you suggest, it pays to think outside your experience and consider the novel.

We had a Chausson flash 2010 from new, our table slid in and out to make up the bed if needed, our last season in it we took out the table and used a folding one in its place to give us more room to move around. The quality was good for what we paid but on looking at some Chausson welcomes at a recent show they did seem to have a higher spec. We now have a Knauss and are really pleased with the quality and design but some of that could be because after having one motorhome it’s like moving house you learn what you really want and what you can do without but the attention to detail is fab. Incidentally our table now can not come out but rotates in every direction giving you options wherever you are sitting for space or table and then drops down to make up the extra bed. Let me know if there are any other queries you have on Chausson, smile

We're on our third motorhome with a fixed table and it can be a pain when moving about. Prior to that we had 3 motorhomes and 2 caravans with folding tables. Notwithstanding the pain of a fixed table, we prefer them because of their robust build, ease of use, and no need to store them elsewhere.

Removing the table in a Hymer is possible and so I expect it will be in other makes. It may leave a big hole in the carpet though as well as the obvious holes in the floor. My advice is don't buy a motorhome with a fixed table unless you can live with such a table.
