Service cost

I have just booked the first service for my 2016 reg Fiat Ducato based Tribute T615 motorhome. I was asked how many miles it had done and advised it was approximately 5000 miles. I was recommended to have the low mileage service to which I agreed. I was astounded when told this was a fixed price of £249 plus VAT. Two questions I have; first will this be OK to keep within the warranty requirements and secondly this seems a high price for a limited service. Any comments, please.

I have to admit that I have little faith in many garages or mechanics. For around 12 months I had intermittent problems with the immobiliser on my motorhome.  After 2 visits from Green Flag, 3 visits to 2 different garages each time being told the problem was something different and around £700 lighter I was immobilised yet again so called out a mobile auto electrician/mechanic.  He attached the computer to the motorhome but couldn't find what was wrong but after a closer look at where the key goes into the ignition noticed that the silver ring around the top of the ignition was loose.  He fixed it with superglue and charged me £190.00 for the visit and for attaching the computer to the motorhome.  He was the only one out of 6 people to realise what the problem was, which quite frankly, is very alarming!

Wow vbfg, that sounds terrible. Trouble is, unless you are a qualified mechanic: technician or whatever we are purely in their hands. Glad you got it sorted but £190 for the final solution sounds extremely steep.

Our Adria Coral is just over 2 years old now and we’ve had it serviced annually by a local Fiat dealer.

Both services were low mileage services costing 199 each with the 2nd service being carried out a few weeks before Adria’s 2nd birthday just in case anything untoward cropped up.

From now on it’ll be serviced and Mot’d by a local specialist as Fiat are quoting very high prices !

Thanks for your comments AndyJB. Having now had the first service after it’s first two years, I will be shopping around a bit more when next required.
