When I took my van into my dealer the other day I got chatting to the Sales Manager and he reckoned that Peugeot were about to introduce an automatic gearbox option in their Boxer vans. Has anyone heard any rumours that this is about to happen?

I’ve not heard that but it wouldn’t surprise me. Since the various brands became part of the Stellantis group, there have been moves towards unifying the engines so, unless they want to maintain differentials across the brands, why not make the auto box an option on all?

Incidentally, that 9 speed TC auto box is a corker.

This Peugeot Business webpage tells of a 'fully automatic electric driving experience' and shows pics of the 'gear controls' but this is how all electric drives work...

no detail about a new auto option on petrol or diesel vans.

I think the E Boxer will probably overtake the need for autogears. Maybe not far off viable E campers? smile

Take a look at e news for Peugeot.

Some delivery vans are now electric and they must be quite heavily laden?

Motorhomes already suffer from payload problems and I would think trying to make the EV could only make things worse.

Do they? Caravans, certainly any UK manufactured ones have paltry payloads barely over 100Kg. Most motorhomes have a minimum of 500Kg and a lot substantially greater. I'll grant you that those who expect an 8M motorhome with six berths AND a decent payload within 3500Kg are living in a fantasy land.
