Nice Surprise at the Weighbridge today

Coming back from the weekend near Orford thought I would pop into the weighbridge, its a little out of my way but as there are none near home its the closest.  Good news, overall 3,620 KG, Rear Axle 1,940 KG & Front Axle 1,680 KG.

So still a bit close on rear axle but we had full tank of water, full diesel, both me an Mrs T, just filled up with gas at Morrison's and had a few clothes.  So thinking another 30 KG for clothing, 20 KG for beer and wine spread between front seats and garage, we should still be well under overall and close to the max on rear.  Not bad for a 7.5m van with island bed, it is plated at 3,850 KG.

We went on a diet before visiting the weighbridge for the first time with the new motorhome. It appears that we can afford to put on 20kg each which is good to know before we set off for France next month.

Overall we have a very good weight allowance on our 3500kg van. Even with 2 ebikes on a rear rack, however we really should  do a rear axle weight test, last time we took it to the weigh bridge we didn't do them separate. I have jiggled things around in the van to make sure that the heaviest item are between the axles, this should then help with the weight of the bikes on the rear. Next long trip will be in September so will do it then before heading off.

Most of the weight on my Majestic 125 is on the front axle. There is loads of spare capacity on the back which, of course, has the heavier rating of the two axles. Handy if I ever decide to put a small motorbike on a rear rack. smile
