Next question..Silver screen (external cover..)

Over winter I use our Taylormade screen on the van whilst its in the back garden. Not sure I have seen any particular deterioration after nearly four years. If it got that bad I would just buy another.

As previously written on here we use ours in storage and have for nine years. It was secondhand when we got it, age unknown condition brilliant. In the spring I'll buy a new one and continue with our inferior secondhand one for this winter as we don't go away. I have heard/seen storage instructions to put screen inside, so reverse fitting. Eg Velcro on outside. Not sure I'd try as would just hang down internally and the windscreen could get condensation inside, it's not stored at home so can't immediately see and would get mucky windscreen! An added bonus for external screen

One thing to watch out for is that you need to specify if your m/h has internal blinds as that slightly changes the fit. My base vehicle is a renault master with internal blinds.  Buying from silverscreens it would have been £160, but I was lucky to find another member selling the correct model for half that price. Easy to use and store.

We don't fit the screens when its parked up outside the house in winter. We close the curtains in the habitation and leave the cab blinds open, I can see the van from my lounge windows, the cab has never had any condensation in it while parked up and not being used. We get pretty cold winters here (sometimes)

Ordered our Silver screen yesterday and received this afternoon. Looks really good quality. Came with storage bag.

Just back from Hawes and Wharfedale and can say we certainly noticed the difference with our Silver Screen this time. The cab area was definititely warmer. A big thumbs up also for how well a fit it is and how easy it was to slip on and off. I really like the way we can fold it down in the morning too. There was no condensation on the window either once we'd part rolled it. 

Thanks for the advice about the screen to all who posted and also the tip about the microfibre cloth, cleaned the drips off a treat 

Just to add;

we keep our screens in bin liners when we pack up, easier to handle than all in a bag, if the are wet, the liner can be dried out, junked etc . Out of the bag, onto the screens at the next stop.

if the Velcro wears or the silver screen is tight, we made a couple of strips the depth of the screen of 50mm wide Velcro that sits between the original Velcro. (other makes of hook and hoop are availible.

long term use in use on the screen leaves a deposit on the screen, l think this is dirt and other matter decomposes and leaves marks. Easily cleaned off, but does need something stronger than wipers to shift.

our Taylor Made are over six years old and in use daily whiilst parked on the drive, still have plenty of life in them.

Taylormade gets my vote. Good service and a reasonable cost to have sent to the Highlands.

Don't use it when motorhome is parked up, especially when it is stormy!

The long version keeps the rain out of the engine bay as well.
