motorhomes v caravans

We are longstanding caravanners and are considering switching to a motorhome (2 berth) as we enter retirement age.we see people arrive on site and set up in minutes and as we tour france every year no towing or manouvering through narrow streets with such a long outfit.

Has anyone made a similar switch? how has it gone for convenience, cost etc. Basically anything to help us make this decision.
