Hi Does anyone know if there,s any rules regards motorhome tyres as with caravans ( I think caravan tyres have to be changed every 5 years) I was talking to another motorhomer and he said the same rule applies .

There are no rules, only guidance, I change caravan tyres at 7 years (assuming that they look OK before a trip

No hard and fast rules as pointed out, but MH tyre's tend to be very strong and sturdy, due to the design load, so just comparing years old I'd say they will probably last longer, but the most important thing is checking the condition of the sidewalls regularly.

There is no law stating at what age motorhome tyres should be changed .We always say to our customers that on a motorhome or caravan that 7yrs is a maximum after that your on thin icesurprised Some listen ,some dont and some have lived to regret it .But you can only try to give people advice wether they take it or not is in their hands.

Club advice.

"It should go without saying that tyres which are damaged or worn to the legal minimum tread depth must be replaced immediately. Caravan tyres need regular replacement, irrespective of their visual appearance. We recommend that you replace your caravan tyres when they reach five years old and should never be used when more than seven years old.

If your tyres need a high inflation pressure (50psi or more), you should check regularly for signs of deterioration from three years old and should not be used when they reach five years.

Remember – the tyres age starts from when it was made, not from when it was fitted."
