Motorhome towing Toyota Aygo

Locking the door with the spare key? 

We have an Aygo which we tow. Put the spare key  in, turn one click to release the steering lock, (wheels need to be able to turn when following MH) then rock the doors with the master key.

If I stop and leave the outfit (say at a service station) I remove the key and relock the doors. 

but what is to stop someone from opening a door when you have stopped at traffic lights etc and taking items from the car !

Empty it before you set off........?

Carry it on a trailer locked, barred and bolted?

30 Years ago The old square shaped Datsun Bluebird that I had (lovely tow car in the day) had a key, spare key and sub-ignition key that would open the doors but not the boot, glovebox and nor would it operate the ignition - just auxillary. Would have been useful in the car whilst being towed

Apperley gives some sound advice above. I towed on a frame for 5 years and never experienced an issue (left handbrake on on car once but that's another issue!). Only thing that changed for me was two wallet lightening police stops in Spain where we had to split the tow and the wife drive the car. Now have a trailer. We did love the a frame life, gave more choice, take the car or not etc, but realistically, how many times do you think you'll stop at a traffic light or whatever and someone will try and get in your toad?

The spare key is in the ignition and the master key then locks the doors. No-one can enter the car unless they smash a window - just like any locked car.

Thanks for the info , I might have a spare key blade cut just to put in the ignition 

I believe you cut keys yourself Husky, proper job then 👍
