This might be of interest. It's a new organisation with links to one of the MH forums.

Posted on 28/03/2021 14:50 by TinwheelerYou've filled in a lot of gaps there, LLM. I could see little of that on their website.
It sure looks promising. Have you joined up?
Posted on 28/03/2021 15:10 by LLMI'm not sure but I don't think you can become involved at this stage unless you are a member of the Fun. I seem to remember you posting some very disparaging remarks about the Fun so I assume that you are not.

Really? You'll need to elaborate on that as, knowing very little about MHFun, I don’t see what I could have said that was disparaging, unless it was commenting on their policy of charging users.
I see nothing on MCA restricting membership to MHFun members. So, back to my original question - have you joined MCA? I'm interested to hear the view of the organisation from a member.

Posted on 28/03/2021 15:35 by LLMYou clearly have the link to the website I suggest that you post a question or questions to satisfy your curiosity. That way you will get the views of a range of people. As I said above "Sounds good to me".

It is free to join, it is intended to be seperate from the motorhome fun site, it is being organised by James Brown the owner of the mhf and yes the owner of Jasmin Camping at Sutton on Sea.
The need or indeed the success of this possible consumer group will only work with enough support. The expedential growth of motorhomes on the road and no consumer group with a specific interest in motorhomes. It may or not work, it may or may not make a difference nothing lost by trying.

Fully agree with its aims and have signed up.
As said above it will only work with lots of support from fellow motorhomers.
It is free to join, non profit making and may if successful become a powerful voice for the motorhome owner, sounds good to me.

"No Membership fees payable at present"
Given that to be anywhere near effective this organisation will probably need a membership a 100 times larger than it currently has (OK early days yet) and given the originator runs a "paid for forum" I wonder how long free membership will prevail? One of the reasons for not contributing to Motorhome Fun is the charging system. Given the number of members of that Forum the fees must more than substantially cover the costs. I know of at least one other hobby related forum with more members which is free to use, although it does have a voluntary paid for supporter option which removes Google Ads. To be anywhere near effective to achieve the aims it sets out it would have to become another Which organisation. It would also have to work in cooperation with the two main Clubs to have any hope of influence. We shall see?

I deliberately mentioned 'no membership fees at present', because the long term funding mechanism has to be resolved. Everyone knows that there is no such thing as a 'free lunch'.
Not sure about the inevitability of having to work with the two main clubs. Had the clubs been more vociferous in criticising Manufacturers and Dealers for the poor levels of product and service, there would have been no entry point for a new organisation to exploit. There is a greatr risk of failure if the cosy duo becomes a cosy trio.
