We have an oldish Autotrail motorhome (2006) I know that with the engine running the starter & leisure battery will be charging, when we are parked up and we connect to an EHU will that charge the leisure battery or do I need to connect a stand alone charger to the battery directly to recharge/top it up, many thanks for reading.

Your leisure battery will charge automatically from the EHU. The 12v features in your van will run off the battery and the EHU will top up the battery via the charger.

Many thanks for the answers folks, I have connected my EHU to the house with extension leads, and after an hour the battery is now showing 25% charge, it was flashing red with zero charge lights on. Question now answered thank you. I will be taking it for a run next week and that should top up both batteries.
