Been looking at purchasing a new Motorhome and been informed that there are plans to increase first registration fee to a figure over £2000. Has anyone got any information on this?

Will we see a sudden flurry of re-application for C1 and up-plating of vans will this kill off the UK motorhome industry?

As this would appear to be a EU directive, will we have to worry after 31 October?

It certainly puts a different slant on driving a heavier motorhome and retaining the C1 licence.

of it applies to vehicles upto 3.5t (and this is the weight you wanted to, ultimately, drive at) wouldn't you buy a van on the light chassis and get the dealer to upplate it (FOC) at purchase and register it at (say) 3650.

take the first year VED at the cheaper rate and then get the van replated (paper job) back to 3500kg...
