I am going to fit an exterior socket outside my house , so I can hook up my motorhome when I need too .

Question .. I am fitting a household plug onto the hook up , question is do I need a socket with an R CD breaker ?

It's easy to just fit a "proper" connector, we have ours adjacent to an outdoor socket in the front of the house, the main house fuse box has an RCD incorporated.......

For interest, the regulations for caravan sites state that the bollard must be within 20 m of the pitch, hence the 25 m standard hook-up cable.

Is that just for 'over here' or Europe in general? I ask because I've used a bollard 'over there' that was in effect just an extension lead from another bollard. 😉

That’s the IET Wiring Regulations BS7671. Not sure that it is aligned with European EN standards although they were trying to many years ago when I was involved. I agree there are some dodgy set-ups over there.
