Fixed bed in Kingham - advice please

Hi

We are looking to upgrade from our Renault Traffic conversion.  Our current favorite for a new van is the Kingham.  The main concern we have is the width of the bed.  Any thoughts / advice would be really helpful.  We did lay on one at the NEC show last week but it's tricky getting a real feel when it's so busy and with stocks currently low it's not so easy to find one at a dealership!

Btw we're average build or maybe a bit over - David is 6' 0" ...

If anyone lives in the Norwich area (or say within 50 miles), owns a Kingham and would be happy for us to come visit or meet up to have a look, that would be amazing!!!

Kind Regards

 David and Fiona

According to the AS website the double bed is four feet wide. To me that is not a double bed but then I am hardly slimwink I can see the attraction of the layout but trying to get a double bed and a toilet compartment side by side in a PVC is always going to be a compromise. Such is the fun of choosing a new motorhome!

Froadster, DK is correct in his summation and, having had 2 AS Warwick Duos, I cannot see how folk can cope in a fixed bed model. Ours were shorter than the Kingham (a good thing in my book) but not having a sizeable chunk of the van occupied by a fixed bed made living in it if not spacious, easy enough.

The W/Duo and other models can make a big double bed but you do, of course, need to make it each night. We used ours as 2 singles with minimum hassle each night.

I suggested the dealership in Suffolk (others exist) because they should have a good selection of vans to look over.

If you want to find knowledgeable owners of AS vans, the owners forum is a good place to start.
