Chemical Toilet usage

When we first began with a touring Caravan we had to buy a Chemical Toilet. It was either in the instructions for it or we just made up our own minds that we would not use it for "solid" waste.

Now we have a motorhome we have continued with this, but it is difficult if we go to a site with no toilet facilities. Is there any reason why we should continue with our policy or can we safely use the Chemical Toilet for all waste.

No 😇.

Prefer to  line the  bowl with toilet paper in cross. Use toilet bowl wipes too after 😉

I found the paper just sticks to the bowl - try running a sheet I’d toilet paper under a tap - but the Happy Bowl liners are like thick tissue paper but stronger.

So do those that line the bowl in the van do the same when at home or using the facilities block?

Judging by the state some folk leave our toilet block in I wish they would use a liner, or even just use the supplied brushundecidedyell

The joys of emptying and maintaining the toilet cassette are manifold and my wife much prefers doing that with the toilet and cassette provided by the Motorhome manufacturer when we are Wild camping than her using the Army steel folding shovel I kindly bought for her at Christmas.

We have never used toilets on the rare visits to Campsites but prefer our British spirit of self-sufficiency by using our own facilities.

Some knowledge of the workings of a Thetford cassette are needed but thanks to Mr Google's help any toilet crisis can be overcome.

A tip - always carry rubber gloves for those times when little 'accidents' occur.
