Chausson flash, Ford chassis with engine problems

Recently purchased a 15 plate Chausson Flash on a ford chassis and on first trip it flashed up a warning and it dropped into limp mode.

This has now happened a number of times ( with 3 garage visits) , I was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems..?

Were your garage visits to a Ford commercial workshop with the right diagnostic computer to analyse the fault codes?

EGR valve is a common problem but others are available.

Do you have a Ford warranty or a dealer warranty or buy privately?

Hi, yes all were to ford dealers, but faults cleared, and nothing logged. Thought the computer would log faults, but no! Need to get to dealers without turning ignition off!!

Bought from a dealer with a years warranty, love the vehicle, but not at all happy with problems, planning a long trip at end of year but feel I can't trust it.

Just wondering if it's a problem with transits!

In your shoes I’d march it back to the dealer and don’t be fobbed off by him telling you to take it to a Ford garage. He sold it to you and it’s his responsibility to sort out problems. If you can’t get the van to the dealer, get him to collect it.

I can’t imagine it being a common problem. White van man wouldn’t stand for it!

If you type  "Ford Transit Limp Mode" into Google, loads of results come up.   I'd have a read through those & see if anything sounds like your van......

Depending on how techie you are,  you can get a OBD code reader from Amazon for £30, read the codes and reset some of the advisory codes if need be.

Fiats (I see yours is a Ford) can be plagued with earthing faults between the engine, gearbox and ECU.    My Fiat has a fault that pops up at irregular intervals for no apparent reason.  I reset the ECU reading, until next time, apparently different reason.

Hi brogm

i see your post is from a while back - I've just experienced the same symptoms in my 2016/17 chausson Ford based m/home 5500 miles only.

, 50 miles after its 1st major service. Ford Assist attended after I "limped" back home and diagnostics revealed injector No1  failure/issue. I'm booked to be recovered to Ford dealer tomorrow morning. Can I ask what your outcome was?

You can ask but are unlikely to get a reply as the OP has only ever made two posts and those are the two on this thread

There is a lot of information on line re ford transit 2.2 injectors, if I remember rightly ford tried to get away with changing only one injector and some had other injectors go. All injectors need replacing. To be forewarned do some homework and go armed with information

have a look at ford transit forum

hope you get it sorted

Just a thought - When the problem gets sorted it might be worth trying a premium fuel if you don’t already use this.  Good luck.
