Hi all

We bought our Bessacarr 596 not long before last year’s lockdown so haven’t had chance to use it much.

We would like to buy an awning but have no idea what type we need or even how we would fix it on - does it fix to the wind out sun shade? Just want somewhere big enough for a table and couple of chairs really.

Id be so grateful if anyone help me please as I genuinely don’t know where to start!

Thank you

Hi there,i have a bailey autograph motorhome.on the wind out awning there is a channel on the bottom about 6mm.you can buy whats called a drive away kit which enables you to fix an awning to this wind out.there are lots and lots of different sizes of awnnings to pick from.both poled and air ones but basicly they all fit the same buy this what is called a kader strip.any good dealer or member on site will im sure give you some advice, just ask and welcome to the club.

Thank you both so much for the replies - both really very helpful and I’m going to do some research over the weekend and hopefully order one.

As I said I didn’t know where to start and now I’m feeling confident in knowing what I’m looking for

What a great site!

Just a word of caution, BB. Be absolutely sure you need the room/panels/awning before you buy.

Many people buy them and then find they’re a lot of hassle to use with a MH. One reason being that you can no longer quickly up and go without dismantling the whole thing if you want to leave site.

There are often secondhand rooms etc on sale.

We bought a drive away Awning. Only used twice as we tow a small car now.

Personally, I would think long and hard before buying an awning for a MH but it all depends whether you do a lot of short stays or longer stays.

I have a windblocker to attach to my wind out awning which gives shelter from the breeze and also stops light rain blowing in.  It only takes about 10 mins to put up and even less to take down and weighs no more than a set of net curtains.

<Here> are details of the blocker we bought nearly 10 years ago and it has served us well.

Hi Bridget, we bought a Dometic camp room, I agree with advice given, while we use ours a lot, heavy to store and expensive £900 +, but on the plus side can be part used as a screen, comes in 3 parts, quite a fuss to put up which I have mastered now and goes up easy, set of steps needed to reach roof level, research is key, good luck.
