Air Suspension - What's it all about?

I tried searching the forum but there do not seem to be any posts on this topic for motorhomes, also the Internet was not much help.

Can anybody give me a brief introduction to the topic - does it level the van when pitched, does it improve the hard ride (bumps mainly), can it easily be retrofitted (AS Broadway in my case), approximate cost, etc. Any downside?

In France at present so limited WiFi access.  As BB said earlier we have VB 4C air suspension with auto level on our Carthago.  Lovely ride very few rattles (no need to pack the plates, etc.).  Cost was not £8k, a bit of negotiation got it down to less than £5k.  Was it worth it? Well I think so.

PS BB, The Carthago meets were great fun.  Four days at the factory etc, was incredible (puts Auto-Trail to shame).  The German owners association really know how to organise and party.  Will definitely do it again.

Write your comments here...Hi D.D and B.B.I have to agree with the German factory meets too.I was invited to the " Concorde" meet in May.Over 400 M/homes there ,17 from the U.K .Fantastic four day event ,food/beer/entertainment,,factory tour really shows how the vehicles are put together. It gives a LOT of confidence in the vehicle too.Looking forward to next meeting ,Laughing.

....Triky, perhaps you need to have a word with JVB who thinks all MH are the same....Wink...and that your van, like other German vans, is 'overpriced and over here'Undecided

My two quotes for full air suspension were £8k including VAT and certain accessories. It was an after fit. It's usually cheaper if you specify it for the van when ordering.
