12v battery charger recommendations

Yes, as long as you make sure that the charger turns to "fully charged" led 7 and 8 on the upper row before you leave it unattended for a longer period of time.
Our in-house test leaves the charger for years - and the battery is in good condition when testing.
Step 8, PULSE maintenance make sure that every battery will be treated individually depending on age and state of health.
I'm now on the horns of a dilemma. I have a 16 amp Ring smart charger that would probably do the same but it is a big beast both in size and power, and a few years old now. It has in the past "recovered / reconditioned" several leisure batteries from near dead. But, do I trust it
or should I fork out £70 for a nice shiny CTEC with a 5 year warranty.

I think you would want to know what happens in the “maintain” phase of charging so you would need the instruction manual or advice from Ring. With the CTek information that comes with the charger it shows the charging phases and the pulsed maintenance phase so you know what you are getting.
