Yearly damp check

We purchased a caravan March last year, a Swift Icon Trend 560 (Challenger). Within the first six months we had a number of warranty issues. However, on its first service this year, the damp check came back as 9% to 14%. We were told by the dealer that this was normal. We are not convinced of this, especially as it is the first year. Our last caravan had no damp issues (Bailey Ranger) in the first ten years we had it. Can anyone confirm this please. If this is not the case then we feel the unit is not fit for purpose and should be exchanged.

I have an Eriba which requires a dealer water ingress test each year for the warranty. Up until my last check I had garage stored my caravan and frequently seen readings of single figures. I've now moved to another part of the country and when I got the dealer report it said simply less than 15%. This ties in with a post above, so don't worry.

Colin - that wouldn't be ALV at Tebay, by any chance, would it? Same thing happened to me last November when mine went in - and I know they sell a lot of Eribas. Prior to that, I always got a detailed report, with the actual reading on it(and most were about 5-7 % which at that time of year is pretty good), but last year , they simply put 'below 15%', as you say.

No, not ALV. Previous water ingress tests had been done by Lowdhams of Nottingham and then Red Lion of Southport. We have now moved down to Devon and I managed to get the Highbridge of Somerset's dealer in Devon do the test. At first they showed some reluctance as they had not supplied the van, but played ball and they had bought my previous van.
