Which twin single bed?

I would like to improve on the night time comfort and am considering a twin single bed model. There seems to be two options in terms of axle layout. Having a standard twin parallel  bench layout at the moment, the shortened lounge on the single axle variant seems cramped. Has anyone experienced the reality of this layout? Does it seem claustrophobic? Is the twin axle worth the extra money to improve the space?
