Truma warm air heating operation

We have a 2005 Elddis Ellusion and cannot work out how to operate the Truma heating system satisfactorily on mains electric.  The blown air works perfectly but is usually stone cold!  When the Ultraheat swirch is set to 500 we get luke warm heat after several hours...presumably because of the space it is trying to warm up!  On 1000 there is no more heat and on 2000 there is nothing!  We have spent several evenings wrapped up in blankets and sleeping bags.  Yet in the middle of the night it is too hot!

We travelled 68 miles today from Clumber Park to Ferry Meadows on 12v.  When we got to Ferry Meadows the heater itself was hotter than we have ever known it!

Is the heater faulty? Or are we not setting it properly?  How long should it take to warm up?

Is there anywhere online we can find the correct operating instructions for this system?

Any help much appreciated.
