Truma spark

When we picked up our Elddis caravan  from Glossop, the handover didn't tell us how to use the Truma gas fire, only the electric controls. When I took the 'van in for the infamous bed slats to be replaced Yell, I asked for help with the fire, the fitter pushed the button down and said 'you'll have to get a new AA battery' OK, I should perhaps have told him to fit one, but I didn't. When I got home, I fitted a new battery, when the button is pushed, nothing happens. Glossop say it may be a faulty igniter. Which means I'll have to schlepp across the pennines once more!!!

Is there anything I could do to prove the fault? I'm thinking it might be cheaper to get a local fitter in at my expense, rather than 200 miles of driving to and from Glossop. What does the team think?
