Tips before you take delivery of your new Bailey

We took delivery of our new Bailey Unicorn earlier this year, but have only just been able to get away in it for the first time. Here are some tips that may save you some time and grief.

1) Check your awning will fit in the awning rail. Our Isabella would not fit, so had to fettle the opening on the rail - not a job best done on site! Also, nice rip on the awning feeder as a result of swarf - not amused.

2) Check that all the 13amp plugs are fully engaged in their sockets - sounds simple but you would be surprised how something so basic can be taxing at the end of a journey when you can't get the fridge to work.

3) Run the central heating for a few hours before you go on holiday - it will probably need topping up with glycol after the air has been bled (pump makes a loud noise when air is present in the system).

4) Ask the dealer to remove the polythene cover on the flooring - it will need to be done soon after you use the van due to condensation. Because the polythene is fitted under units, it is a pain to remove.

5) Check that all the blinds open and close correctly, one of ours could not be opened.

6) If you are not used to the 13 pin plug on the towing loom, make sure you know how to re-align the pins when they move - this is not a Bailey issue.

Hope the above helps. Enjoy.
