Third party caravan insurance

Has anybody else had the trouble I have had. I wanted a simple question answered by my insurance company (motor). If my caravan hits or damages another car on the road do Ii have third party cover? Three people told me from the company that I would not be covered despite being fully comp. it took a forth person to eventually tell me I did. As we have come back to caravaning after ten years I felt like throwing in the towel.
