In the leaflet the CC state "If the caravan is not used for a significant length of time, it is recommended that the wheels and tyres are removed and stored at normal inflation pressure in a cool, dry place and protected from direct sunlight, sources of heat, ozone concentrations and fuel/oil spillages. They can be covered with a natural material (eg. hessian) for protection, but not plastic. If wheels must be left on, rotate them regularly, so that the caravan?s weight does not rest on one area of the tyre all the time."

What do the CC regard as a significant amout of time as we cannot use our caravan for about 3 - 4 months over the winter period?

There is no ways we would be able to jack up a twin axle and store the tyres.  It is also a 20 mile round trip to the caravan to move it, but as it is in a designated storage area, you can only move it back and forth and it will end up in the almost the same position it was in prior to moving. Also i would think that UV is lot lower and less in the winter than any other time of the year.

IMHO the advice given is dated and from the 1950's as surely terchnology should have moved on and with tyres today, it should not matter if they are stationery for several months.

Not sure why the ALKO chassis should be "rested" every now and then as it should make no difference.  After all sometimes caravan sit in the dealer's yard for months at a time without being moved!

Should the data regarding removing tyres etc be updated etc?
