Swift BaseCamp

Just seen this on the Swift website

https://www.swiftbasecamp.co.uk

No doubt the naysayer dinosaurs will be along to rubbish the very thought. There will be no where to fit the mattress topper and 32" TV & Sat Dish for goodness sake.
 ;)

But I think Swift should be applauded for recognising the change that will be upon us before we know it. And the need to engage a younger clientele with ever smaller, lighter tow cars.

Whether we like it or not, this is the future, not getting bigger
8ft wide indeed !

Well done Swift.  :)

Now, where did I leave my surfboard and bike ?

Thanks for clearing that up, Runrig. Slightly less straightforward than I thought, but happy bunny now.

(in my defence, I am a newbie) cheers.

Have to say, though, when in the brochure it states "Static Load on Coupling Head" = 100kg, ie no mention of "Maximum", it could be a tad misleading for a newbie dummy like myself.

I'm very interested to hear about how you get on with this Gary.

It's a perfect 85% match for my current car and may be very tempting in a few years time

We are new to caravaning and lindeed towing anything. Looking for something no fuss for weekends away, Just the rwo of us and a couple of bikes. Would be towing with a Peugeot PartnerTepee Any thoughts as to why this might not be the great solution it appears to be?

For me being an old fart with an arthritic spine I like the comfort of a fully sprung 6' 4'' long front bench to rest on occasionally. Also don't think that it would suit OH who likes more internal space, However 25 years ago I would have jumped at it Happy

I sent the link earlier in this thread to friends of mine who were thinking of buying a motorhome.  They loved it and are going to find one to have a look at with a view to buying. They are both retired, she's had both knees replaced, but they are both active walkers, and cyclists (she on an electric bike) and like the spartan but sporty look of the Basecamp.

Yep ValDa looks a useful bit of kit with tie downs for transporting bikes as well

I'd think it would be ideal. Might be worth looking at the Knaus sport and fun as well as it's a bit bigger, has a fixed bed and should still be capable of being towed by your Peugeot.

Don't worry, most literature relating to caravan weights is ambiguous or missleading, you will see on here even seasoned caravaners rarely agree.

You are thinking about it, that's great.

We're getting the BaseCamp sometime in November and plan to get away in it asap. Looking forward to trying out all the gadgets and the awning.

Will keep you posted.
