Posted on 09/06/2021 22:49 by TinwheelerAh, I’ve got it. A spiral roundabout is just an ordinary roundabout with lane markings. I thought that was pretty normal. 🤷🏻♂️

Great pics thanks Tinster👍🏻. I must admit I get mighty ticked off when I get beeped because someone on the left(of me) sticks in that lane even though they’re going for the 3rd exit & I'm going for the 2nd exit & they beep like crazy & make hand gestures because I’ve ‘cut them up’🤷🏻♂️. If there are markings it’ll help everyone. Or the alternative is learning how to use roundabouts👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Posted on 10/06/2021 10:26 by TinwheelerIt looks like spiral roundabouts just guide folk to do what most of us have done for years. The lane markings are using a form of diagram to explain how to use a roundabout.🙂

Spiral roundabouts are fine until there is heavy traffic, then without the road markings as a guide it's anyone's guess when and where the spiral actually begins.
There is one off the York bypass which is heavily trafficked with a lot of honking and cutting up.

Spiral lane marking just don't seem to work well if what is painted on the road surface does not correspond to where the lane leads, or the marking have worn off, or are obscured by traffic ahead. Not to mention when the 1 in 10 who has been confused by them has to go around again!
