Jockey wheel question

Hello, just a quick one.

our jockey wheel is getting a bit stiff and sounds rough when jacking the caravan up.

I understand that its just a case of unscrewing the jockey wheel till it comes apart and then cleaning it up and filling it with lovely grease.

My quesion is, is it safe to leave the caravan parked up with just the corner steadies over night without the jockey wheel or would you put a stand under the hitch?

it's parked on flat ground in a secure lock up so no chance of kids jumping on it etc.
