is my towbar compatable with my hitch??????

hi all, we have just changed our car which has a towbar fitted and i have read that not all tow bars are compatable with our charisma 230 al-ko stabiliser ???? have i got this right if this is correct  how do i tell???? we have not hitched it up yet as its in storage obviously i do not want to loose my caravan on route from the storage!!!!!!! has any one heard of this hook up problem before, thanks   jean
