Help with external socket identification

Hi everyone

We have three external sockets on our van.
1. 230v input

2. three pin 230v output

3. unknown!

The unknown one has a black plastic pipe (c2.5cm dia and about 5cm protruding) with a hole down the centre of the pipe and a cut away making the hole more like the shape of a rudimentary key. It’s covered by a black rubber cap and the whole thing is behind the usual white flap.
We thought it might be external gas, but it looks nothing like others we’ve seen.
I’ve tried to upload a pic, but can’t get down to the (tiny!) maximum 500k file size.

We’re probably being daft, but does anyone know what this is?

cheers

stu

It does sound like a gas point but hard to confirm without a picture. What is on the other side i.e. inside the van?

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

Here’s a resized pic.

We’re a 2016 Bailey Pegasus, by-the-way.

Cheers

Stu

And thanks for the tip about what’s behind the fitting. Unfortunately, the caravan is in storage away from home. Though I can look at the weekend, if you lovely helpful folk haven’t solved it by then! :)

I could be wrong but to me that looks like an after fit battery isolator switch or power switch for a motor mover. If so, there should be a red key to operate it.

Ah ha. Thanks Tinwheeler. I think you may be right. It’s probably a motor mover (we don’t have one fitted) isolator switch, as it’s located just to the rear of the near side wheel.
I’ll check it all out with the multimeter at the weekend.

Shouldn’t the isolator  switch be inside the battery locker and in such a position that it’s difficult to connect the EHU cable with switch in the on position.

Only asking as I’m sure I’ve read that somewhere 😳
