so the last few days we have been at york with our caravan its a 2010 sterling europa 470 fixed bed caravan

we have had issues all weekend like we are rolling into each other upon inspection looks like the bed frame is bent/sprained when i took the mattress off the hinged side of the french bed isn't sat on-top of the lower part thus causing the central rail not to sit on its support and the opposite side doing the same  it is slipping off the support rails of the lower frame

i didnt manage to get photos but will do this week when i go to the storage yard

anyone had this issue and can it be fixed

cheers

Sounds like your hinges are loose or damaged.

pictures would be good

we have a Sterling with a similar bed.

It appears from the photos that the back rail has been twisted, item(s) had been trapped between the moving part and the fixed under frame while the upper frame has been lowered. This has also damaged the plastic corner pieces. This may be repaired by replacing the plastic corners, how you do this you need to contact the dealer or Swift direct.

In addition the upper frame seems to be distorted to the left.  As the  frame is flexible it can be pushed to the right when closing. We had the same problem and to overcome it I fixed a small bracket to the righthand side of the lower frame to prevent movement.

so update contacted my local swift dealer they have said the brackets are no longer made but maybe some from a hymer MAY fit and at £12 each i am not wanting to take the chance that they MAY fit. so i am currently in the process of having some brackets made at work and will cut the corner brackets and install them will be stronger than std maybe a bit overkill but it wont brake will update once complete

cheers

well managed to fix this issue with some new brackets yes its a bit crude but it has worked a treat the top frame now sits nice on the lower frame i am chuffed to its as there will be no rolling into the middle of the bed and the wife is also happy its fixed

the plastic corners weren't broken they are profiled to the inside of the extruded aluminium and they had twisted inside and had bent over hence why they looked broken
