End bathroom

We have a fixed bed with side bathroom (Coachman) and are thinking of changing to fixed bed and with end bathroom (which we have had before) but feel we will lose settee length in lounge area and kitchen prep area as we want to keep single axle.  How do other caravaners decide what space you need where.  We LOVE our current VIP but would like to go back to an end bathroom but don't want to sacrifice other van space.  Pros and cons please?
