Condensation On Dometic Fridge Door

Hello. We brought a new caravan about three week ago and spent a few days on the site at Northam Farm where we got the van. I noticed that first thing in the mornings there was a circle of condensation on the face of the fridge, about the size of a shaving foam lid.

We had to leave the van with them at the end of our stay so that they could sort out an issue with the alarm, so I asked them to look  at the fridge. After a week I got a call from Northern saying that the alarm was fixed, but they couldn't find anything wrong with the fridge. They had spoken with the Dometic Engineer and he said it was" just a consequence of sleeping in the same room as the fridge" . Knowing that was rubbish, and it was obvious that there was a void in the insulation on the fridge door, I did a quick internet serch and discovered it was a known Dometic fault. I confronted Northam Farm with this, and sent a link to the site,  wich they passed on to the Dometic man. He had a change of heart and said he would look into it. I have just spoken to Northam Farm, and they can't pin the Dometic man down to say if he has the parts yet.

So I was wondering if anyone else gas had this problem, and how long did it take to sort out. To be fair Northam Farm have their hands tied a bit as the fridge us under warranty and the work has to carried out by Dometic, or so they tell me.

Northam farm have taken their responsibilities seriously, they have passed the issue onto Dometic as they are specialist. But all my dealings have been through the retailer ( Northam Farm) so I have no problems on that score, I was just wondering how long it took for an issue like this to be resolved.

As for your ventilation point. Well I did point out that the problem occurs in the morning after we have been sleeping. We choose not to sleep with windows open so there is bound to be a certain amount of moisture in the air. As I mentioned Northam Farm couldn't replecate the problem when they put the fridge on test, and that would be precisely because no one had been sleeping in the caravan.
