I believe that the profile of a commercial van tyre such as yours is 80 but a conversation with a local tyre shop in your area will confirm - and will give you a price to supply and fit at home. Shop local when you can

I'm just in the process of getting some new tyres, and my experience is that most established suppliers such as Kwik Fit etc don't understand caravan tyres.

Ours are also 185 R 14 C and the C stands for commercial. The size your looking for is 80, but you need to look out for someone who is au fait with caravans before purchasing.

I called the Caravan Club technical number, and they put me onto tyreleader.co.uk who will sell you tyres, but don't fit. They have a list of mobile fitters on their website who will visit and fit them, but the nearest to me was miles away

In the end, I opted to use a local firm who specialise in tyes here in Dorset. You will probably have someone close to you, but speak to your dealer or service supplier if not sure.

One word of caution. Check the date stamps on the tyres you intend to buy. If theyve been on the shelf for 2 years, you'll be replacing them again in 3

I'd go somewhere else. Do you really want people who haven’t a clue what they’re talking about fitting your tyres? 😣

A warning as noted above. In another thread I have mentioned the manufacture date of tyres. I know of one owner who has had several conversations with outlets and they are saying a tyre up to 3 years old is classified as new by the trade.

I have taken the decision to use a local old school tyre outlet instead of on-line outfit. This is was initially brought about due to my remote location, but mainly because the local outlet would check manufacture date at time of order and advise me. To help with this I'm going to give them a short list of tyres to consider in searching for the newest.

We had Tyres on the Drive (now owned by halfords but hopefully same fitters) fit our tyres on our twin axle 5 years ago so also looking to change. Back then they were aware of the 5 year guidance  for caravan tyres and ensured that those fitted were manufactured in that current year, there website now says 2 years if in stock etc.

The tyres fitted were Falken Linam Van01. The original tyres were some non-descript C rated cheapies fitted by elddis. The falkens improved the way the caravan towed probably due to better side wall design etc.

Our size is 175/65/14 88/90 load rating  and are £85 each fitted.
