Caravan service

I have my caravan serviced 'where she sits' - in the winter storage. The service is carried out by a mechanic recommended by the dealer that we bought the caravan from. Obviously there is no mechanical lifting ramp. How much work gets carried out on ramps indoors at a dealers? I am thinking of having the caravan serviced at the dealer that I bought it from maybe every three years and continue to have the mobile mechanic cover the other two years. What are your thoughts please?

My view is that provided there is some room to move comfortably then a lift is not necessary to a service.

I do not think many workshops will have lifts,  as what will they need to go under a c/van for more than any mobile companies does

As above. A lift just makes work on wheels/hubs/brakes etc a bit more comfortable & less back breaking than if the caravan was on the ground.

I would imagine it would only be large dealerships that have ramps, we take our caravan to an approved independent service engineer and he doesn't have mechanical ramps. There are lots of mobile service engineers around that do a good job with jacks and axle stands if required.

Our mobile engineer just jacks it up.......and I'd trust him far more than the local dealer.

There's a mid sized towbar fitting and caravan service centre near me that has a lift. He's been in business for some years though.

As ever, thanks for the helpful replies. I will continue to employ the current mobile mechanic who by the way, I find that he charges a very reasonable price.
