Posted on 25/02/2020 00:15 by EmilysDadMy twin axle has two pairs of Pwrtouch movers fitted but they were already fitted when I bought my caravan ...... The previous owner had deeper pockets than me 😉

I had a Powrtouch Evolution Auto fitted a couple of years ago. It works ok, but is a bit slow and noisy. Is yours the same? My BiL has the Truma (don’t know which model) on his TA, and is silent and much quicker. I don’t think he had much change out of £2,000.

Two mover heads or four?
Four are costly in sterling and weight allowance lost. However they do make every wheel turn, which can be handy on lumpy ground where a wheel can lift off and loose traction. Conversely, they do heavily scrub the tyres when turning on solid surface.
I'm happy with having just two heads on my twin axle.

We use a Powrtouch Evolution Twin (2 wheel drive). It’s been on 2 of our twin axles and it has always worked well. Maybe not as speedy as the 4 wheel drive version but it’s never been an issue with us. Powrtouch were a good company to deal with too when we had a problem in France, they couriered out a new CPU box to us within 48 hours and we fixed it.

I am sure that the top speed can be adjusted slightly via a combination of buttons on the Powrtouch handset. Don't ask how it's done as no instructions with me. sorry.
Just found this on youtube.

Our twin axle weighs in at 1900kg fully loaded, we have a Truma TE, 2 wheel drive, fitted to the front wheels. It does what we need it to do, gets the van off the road, through 90 degrees and up our 1 in 10 paved driveway by shuffling back and forward about 3 times.
4 wheel drive ones will turn better but will weigh 60+ kg, twice what ours weighs.
How much weight do you have to spare?
