Hi everyone,

I am new to caravaning and quite clueless to be honest.

We bought our first caravan in August 2021 which is a 2008 Bailey sennator series 6 Wyomming twin axle.  Its a lovely caravan....just wish we'd got a twin motor mover on it!

It's weight max weight is 1678kg and minimum weight is 1435kg.

Currently have a 2ltr 2016 ford kuga 180 automatic diesel. It's not up for the job, so wondering to buy a used Volvo xc60 d5 2.4 diesol instead. Would these make a suitable tow car?

Thanks you for any advice given, it would be greatly be welcomed

Welcome to the world of caravanning, hope you now have a mover fitted - just remember the weight of the mover will eat into your payload. However, why is the Kuga not up to towing your caravan? What is the mass in service or kerb weight of the car and what is its max towing limit? The XC60 is a good tow car (my brother uses one for his t/a Ellddiss) however you will get a stream of posts also recommending Sirento, Santa Fe, Discovery’s, Touareg’s etc ad infinitum.

I use to tow with a Kuga. The kerb weight is less than one might imagine.

Unusual statement that. On the whole, kerbweight is generally more than any published data.
