Battery, wet lead acid to AGM conversion

Hello,

I have bought an AGM 120Ah battery to replace our traditional wet lead acid battery on our unmodified Swift 460 Challenger Uropa.  It has a ESM power unit.  I realise this will not fully charge the battery so i bought a battery charger combined pack.  The tow car is a Golf start stop and i have just fitted a new battery which is AGM also. My question is, How can i wire up this to work on the EHU.

Regards Nick

Sorry, i cannot for the life of me work out how to edit my post with further information but it is a Utopia, and i'll attach a pic of the ESM2004 unit that needs the charging bypassed i guess.  The new charger that came with the battery is a Noco genius5.

Can't attach pic as there is a 500kb limit and the pic is 4700 odd kb's !

Moderator Comment - You only have a relatively short time to use the edit function, its really only to allow immediate  correction of obvious errors. Re pictures, yes they must be under 500kbs. Its easier to resize on a computer but there are Apps that allow you to do the same on a phone.

I don't know anything about the ESM charger but I would be surprised if you could not change its settings to accommodate an AGM battery. I hope you checked this was not the case?

Hi, greatly appreciate any advice if anyone has had the same problem with the Autotrail Scout SE. Our mechanic removed the battery, just new, to have some work done under the bonnet and when he put it back into place, the instrument panel has blown. Obviously down to a surge from the battery. Now looking for a new instrument panel. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

As far as I'm aware that unit cannot be set for AGM batteries.  However, you could speak to Apuljack.  They are helpful and will know.  Personally I would avoid AGM's but that is a different conversation.

Thank you for your reply.  We really don't have the funds left to pay someone to do it for us, however we have just had a lovely week in the lake district, our 4th time in a caravan now.  The issues with the different battery technologies are very well written about and i've read a good deal of them.  FWIW i came to the same conclusion and was set to do a cheap swap as we are always on hook-up.  Then i found that (as aluded too) unfortunatly, the car dictates the choice.

regards Nick
