In case this may help someone who ended up like me with a jammed spare wheel winder,

i was doing usual end of winter checks toilet pump siezed ( fairly normal) then thought i would

check the state and pressure of spare, managed to lower it but it was extremely stiff got wheel off checked pumped up

went to wind back up it was solid.

undid 3 bolts and removed it you could see the wire jammed though a a small slot tried to get new one but it is unavailable

contacted dealer who didnt get back so decided to try and repair it myself (see photos) all you need is a bench grinder or file and small torx driver

remove top rivetts take unit off remove top and sort cable ,replace with 8mm bolts and penny washers cost £3,50 now back and perfect new one would have been £175 if i could get one ,This seems a much more secure method as one of the rivetts fell off back plate, people might say just put wheel in van but at 76  its quite heavy to lug in and out every trip .also dont get caught with hidden fuse behind LCD unit.

This winder is a re-purposed unit off a car or van and used by bailey as there is a gasket on underside

Just adding the posts that hold the unit to back plate just come off with a bit of back and forth rocking

Exactly the same problem here. Bailey wouldn't sell me a new one as they said a safety issue. I took the whole unit to a local caravan fixing guy who has a bench with a decent vice. Locked the unit in the vice and manipulated the wire in and out with a large pair of pliers until the wire started running freely again. Biggest problem was reinstalling the unit under the van. Not easy, laid on my back and trying to hold the 3  posts in place and get the nuts on, with only two hands. Managed it though eventually. 2 fingers to Bailey. What a stupid way of carrying the spare wheel.
