Austria - Campsite Pitch Gas Supply

I only know what I have read….that it is the responsibility of the campsite to provide the connector pipe and make the connection… and that one needs to ask the campsite how exactly they do that - as well as what they charge.

But the UK Camping and Caravanning Club has a statement saying piping gas into a caravan through an external barbecue point is not recommended and not allowed on their sites.

I think you need a ruling from a qualified gas engineer - and that isn’t me.

Over the years I have stayed on about 10 campsites in Austria and I have never been aware of this facility. Not even seen any form of connection on a pitch. I would be interested to know where you have learnt of this facility?

Sounds a bit dangerous to me. I have not heard of it either but perhaps it is something the sites open in the winter provide?

The first info I spotted for Austria was for Camping Grubhof . Google gave me a list of others

As this Club is selling pitches at Grubhof to members it might be a good idea for  theClub to get up to speed and explain how it works for members before they get there.

And having seen the glacial speed of introducing metering electricity on UK Club sites I think piped metered gas might be a long way off for us.

There is just such a lot the Club could learn about running campsites from looking at how they do things in Europe.
