A470 suitability for towing a caravan

I was thinking of towing a caravan the length of the A470.  Has anyone got advice on the suitability of this road.  I am experienced with towing and would love to travel that route but don't particularly want to make too much hard work for myself.

I've done various bits of it over the years, mostly the northern bits and lived to tell the tale. No particular problems and we tow with a medium sized unit. I haven't been on it around Brecon but know people who have and they haven't had any problems. It's not the quickest of routes and I'm unsure if you intend to do it in one go. That would be tiring for me.

Maybe not exactly what you wanted and I'm sure those that travel along more frequently will be along in due course.

Many thanks, just what I want.   I have done as far as Brecon no problem,  just a little concerned about Snowdonia.   Intend to  make two days of it for comfort.

Our roads in Wales are of good standard.The A470 is the arterial North/South route. Good surfaces, plenty of HGVs using it plus bus routes.Any competen tpuller will find no difficulties, just one or two passes to cross.

I have towed along the A470/A487 more times than I can remember. It is not primarily a fast route and usually takes me 4/5 hours towing Caernarfon to Cardiff depending on the volume of traffic and the number of heavy lorries. The main places to watch are the river bridge in Carno which is single file with poor visibility and, as mentioned elsewhere, the crossroad and very narrow street in Rhaeadr.

Pob lwc, mwynhewch  {good luck, enjoy}

Ah, a fellow person from Kernow. I can’t imagine you having any problems in Wales if you’re used to Westcountry roads.
