Hi

I purchased a Buccaneer Cruiser 2019 model last year

I had it serviced March this year at a Elddis approved centre.A crack was found on rear corner near side roof section. This appears to be an ongoing problem which has been going on for years. Why don’t they address it instead of putting inferior parts into the body shell and getting all the bad publicity and inconvenience to the owners.

The dealership(Teesside caravans)contacted Elddis on my behalf for body shell warranty claim asking them to provide necessary parts including rear panel to do the repair

Elddis provided them with two corner patches to stick on a van that wasn’t 12 months old

What happened to the 10year warranty on body shell they advertise.Surely when you purchase a new product you expect to be covered by the guarantee

When I contacted Elddis I was told the plastic shell is only guaranteed for 12 months. They don’t advertise this

Elddis should provide proper solutions for inferior products instead of fobbing owners off for years

If others have had the same experience and had a good outcome please contact to assist

I would never, ever buy another Elddis! We had a 2016 Elddis Affinity which, amongst other things suffered cracks in the front panel. When we bought the caravan as our final caravan retirement treat with our precious savings we believed all the hype about the 10 year body warranty.  We thought that it would end any worries about damp.

How wrong we were!! A one year warranty on the front panel is a disgrace, when the implication had been a worry-free 10 year period of ownership.

We now have a Knaus, which is in a different league altogether.

Good luck!

We have an Elldis Affnity 2019. Mileage 600 miles only. Damp on the roof “ Heki Light”, Sink Drainer came detached “ Flooding Floor”
Front Window Rail Loose” Not Water Tight” Awning Rail Fills with Water” Causing Water Ingress To Awning” plus several other part failures, PCB, Alko Brakes, Jockey Wheel, Bathroom Radiator Not Getting Hot, Plus 3 issues with cabinets not aligned properly.

Would Have Everyone’s Sympathy with Above as we have. At Total of 4 months out of 12 waiting in line for these repairs.

ELLDIS : Are Not A Reliable Brand.

We have had one Elldis when we returned to tugging after we had had motor caravans for 10yrs and kept it for 18 months,  before getting fed up with many problems and very poor dealer help (Nottingham area ,What PDI?)

Now had two Baileys with minimal problems and good dealer

Hi what was the outcome of this in the end?

I have a similar crack and Teesside caravans are dealing with it

Elldis won’t help at all and won’t even supply the corner caps

i am having to £1500 for to get the plastic paint repaired

We have an Elldis 860 and at the start of 2021 it went in for its annual service. Dealer found damp and a crack in the front panel just where it joins the roof panel.

Elldis warranty is rubbish. The ten year leak warranty only applies to seams not failures in the bodywork. Given the selling dealer was some 150 miles away it was far simpler and cheaper to bite the bullet and have the local man get a bodywork specialist to repair the crack. So far it is all watertight.

Our 2014 Affinity 550 has several cracks appeared in the near side following the course of the awning rail. Again we were told the super dooper 10 year warrenty doesnt actually mean anything.

I think the spec used for both front and rear panels are to make them as light as possible to keep the vans weight down to suit more cars.

The mistake we made was to think the van was ok to actually tow on the road!

Silly us

Totally agree with your last sentence.  We have a Starclass 695 and the build quality just jumps out at you! (As an aside - are you aware of the Knaus Caravans Facebook group - a very useful source of information / tips?)

Here we are yet again, the caravan manufactures and many dealerships are an absolute disgrace, see previous posts regarding quality and customer service (aftercare!). Poor design, poor onboard equipment are the norm these days it’s almost impossible to get any satisfaction when you face these issues.

it is about time the caravan club and other member organisations realise by also ignoring the quality control issues by not commenting and “getting into bed” with manufacturers for commercial reasons, and providing reviews that don’t look at customer satisfaction this problem will get worse.

we have owned a caravan since 1978, and the only brands we have not had a problem with were Thompson, and Abbey (Cossalt), both now not in existence, we have tried Lunar, Bailey, Explorer (now Elddis) and Coachman caravans and each brand had warranty issues on collection, all have had damp problems, we tried swift which was the least problematic of the bunch.....

There is a moral here , as mentioned they are all as bad as each other!

when our current coachman needs replacing we will retire from caravanning.
