Deafened by a Transporter alarm

Is anyone else as silly as this?  I left my 2009 Transporter conversion in the lane for some months, and then had trouble starting it - battery dead.  So I get a new battery, fit it, and the alarm goes off.  Nothing will stop the noise: locking and unlocking, mechanically and electrically, starting the engine and locking and unlocking, slamming all the doors.  So now it sits, sulking, and so do I.  Has anyone else had this trouble, and how did they deal with it?  I would willingly disconnect the alarm, permanently, but it is protected and hidden away.

I’ve known situations where it’s been necessary to preserve a 12v supply to the vehicle when removing the battery or the alarm will sound on reconnection and radio code lost. However, alarm has always reset when the vehicle is restarted. In the absence of any instructions it sounds like it might be one for a mobile auto electrician?
