Like K I just log on to the CC on sites. The coverage is very variable but as I understand it this is not the fault of the club or Air Angel. Basically the problem is usually the remote locations of sites and the internet provision of Openreach. I was told that on many sites the service available to the club is simply not good enough to provide the consistant fast internet we need and when you have youngsters on sites trying to download then the whole thing fails.
This did seem to have some basis on one site as on a Thursday when the site was not full the service worked passably but come Friday evening it stopped altogether.
Possibly the club should publish the internet service strength available for different sites as part of the handbook and on their web pages information so people did not waste money when on the sites with poor internet.

It is of course available here for checking prior to booking. However, I agree it would be sensible to put it on the the site information page, but probably not the handbook as strength can increase as BT rolls out infinity and could be soon out of date.

...We are on "infinity" at home and the speeds although a bit faster than previose they are right at the bottom end off what they say is available,it still all depends, according to an open reach engineer how far you are away from a box that is connected to fibre optic cable

Write your comments here...Many thanks for supplying the link Steve. Very useful.
There it is clearly listed what quality of Wifi is expected on different sites. They are listed under Gold, Silver, and Bronze Wifi categories. Ranging from good to poor.
An observation :-
What is strangely missing is a price differential for use at each of those sites. If say £2.50 is the daily charge for Wifi on one of the good Gold sites, then surely there should be a price reduction for anyone trying desperately to get Wifi on a Bronze site.
Or have I missed it somewhere ?.

Write your comments here...The cost to install the equipment and maintain it is the same for gold silver or bronze and teh cost fo the line from BT would be roughly the same as to make no difference in cost.
Personally I think £25 for a year is reasonable if you use club sites often. I could be made free say from the information hut for poeple to stay in touch with email etc. like some othe sites do.

I would imagine most sites have to accept what is locally available, like 'Commons Wood' which seemed to have a high contention ratio and a low bandwith. During the day it fairy galloped along, but come evening and with the site filling up the signal strength was still good but boy did it crawl as everyone tried to grab a bite of the limited sized cake.

...We live near Commons Wood, and are on what is laughingly called "infinity" by BT and its now 1630 and its getting slower by the minute as more people come home from work and joinall the kids doing their homework and staff at Tescos HQ and other big companies on the industrial estates get ready for home and finish the days "work" or do their Xmas shopping when boss has "gone to a meeting"
