Unable to access the free wi-fi on Club sites

I have searched for this topic to no avail so hopefully I can get some answers here and feel that this area is probably the best place to post. Moderators please feel free to move if you think best.

I have recently visited two sites at Baltic Wharf & Tewkesbury that have good Wi-Fi. I wanted to post site reviews and decided I would use the free access to the Club's website to do so rather than using my data. However I could not get onto the free website from the Airangel log in screen. Each time I clicked on the button to the web site, which is how I used to do it before, I got a message something like unable to access the server due to security issues. I have done this successfully before but normally on a laptop although I have used both this iPhone and tablet previously too. This time both my iPhone and Android tablet could not get access.

Is there a problem or am I doing something wrong or has the free access now been removed. I could get there via my own data connection so the website was working.

Regards, Roy

Same problem at Rowntree Park 2 weeks ago. Could access the pay Wifi although very slow as usual but could not access free CAMC site on any of our devices all week. Reported to warden and put on review of site. I suppose it would be a problem if you wanted to pay for WiFi for first time or renew access.

We had the same problem at Chatsworth two weeks ago. I subscribe £25  for a years access and no problems with this whatsoever. However, if I am just going on CT I usually don't bother logging on and only use the free access. It just kept coming up with unable to access server. This was on an iPad. I have never had a problem previously and we have been using the wifi for several years.

Personally  though I don't have a problem with it. If folk are taking up the bandwidth, which is often limited on a lot of sites, they should be paying for it.

As to it being something to do with security issues. I don't think this is the case. Since downloading some of the latest iOS updates the software now warns you clearly that a network is not secure. However, it does not prevent you connecting to it. Supermarket wifi for instance, now always comes up as insecure. I just don't use it for anything sensitive.

I couldn't  get on either, by phone nor tablet, though I could use my own 4G. Airangel site's link tried to go to a web page something like camc.com

Thanks for all your replies. It seems to be a problem for many. I cannot quite understand the point of paying to access the Clubs web site to leave a review when it has a free connection to the Club web site only & it is too expensive to pay airangel when we only spend about 3/4 weeks a year on Club sites compared to 17 weeks + on others, mainly abroad. In the U.K. I would just use my data which I pay for & get connected all the time. Regards Roy

My only 'complaint' is that I activated several 'Three' data cards before going to Spain .... and then found vastly superior wifi available at all campsites  .... either free or for very low cost.

A 3GB card has already expired (with negligible use) ... and a 12GB will also expire soon.

Lesson learned!

Hi everyone, I am so sorry you have been experiencing issues with this. The IT team have investigated and this has now been resolved so you should all be able to access the Club website for free when on site. Thanks for letting us know about this and please get in touch if you experience any further problems in the future.

Why did you activate them before going?

We carry 2 or 3 and just start using (activate) them as needed.

We use a small portable router to plug the dongle into and then we can both connect tablets/laptops at the same time.

Didn't have any problems at any of the sites we visited in January,

Bury, Chester Fairoaks, Bristol Wharf, Ferry Meadows and Middlesbroug.

Can't remember but I don't think I logged onto the AirAngel site when accessing the Free wifi for the Clubsite. I seem to think it came up automatically when I moved from site to site as I clicked on the CC logo.
